Scope and Contents
The collection is comprised of eight series: scrapbooks, member list books, minute books, guest books, correspondence, and yearly bulletins, programs, and Bulletin and Directories.
The collection represents only a portion of the materials from the history of the club, but represents a full range of their interests and activities. The scrapbooks act as an especially unique and complete source of the Music Club’s activities and membership.

Music club members have full access to the collection and may be allowed to remove the items temporarily.
Biographical / Historical
The Baton Rouge Music Club was organized in 1909, with twelve original members, whose aim was not only to further their own musical activities, but to create an interest in music in the community. Member of the National Federation of Music Clubs since 1927 this group organized the Louisiana Federation of Music Clubs in 1928. Each year the club selects some subject for intensive study. The topic is usually reflected in the performances and choice of guest lecturer. The membership is divided into active and non-active members.

Music Club members removed a portion of the collection in April, 2009. The materials were returned on July 14, 2009 with approximately 3 cu ft. of materials added to it.
Existence and Location of Copies
Digital copies located in Z drive under Digital Librarian/Music City of Baton Rouge. Will be added to the baton Rouge Digital Archive.
